Call me a fan boy all you want, but my favorite food truck in Chicago is, and probably always will be my neighborhood truck – Bridgeport Pasty. Something about that little electric-powered truck really gets my heart racing and my feet running towards it every time I see it. Maybe it’s because I walk past their kitchen on Morgan Street every day, but most likely because I love those little pastries. What exactly is a pasty? Well, think of it as a portable pot pie. It’s small, simple, but amazing.
The menu is very simple… three types plus one wildcard. My personal favorite is the Yooper – seasoned beef, onion, potato, rutabaga, garlic, and parsley. Pictured above is the Chic-Pot-Pie, which is basically just the best chicken pot pie you will ever taste in a hand-held form. They also have a veggie pasty which consists of spinach, mushroom, gruyere cheese, onion, and bechamel. To find their whereabouts, you can follow them on Twitter @bridgeportpasty.
